When Mr Earnshaw finds a young itinerant lad he names him Heathcliff and resolves to look after him. He takes the stranger into his home, Wuthering Heights, where he is raised alongside his children Cathy and Hindley.

But the latter never accepts him and jealous of the feelings Cathy holds for this newcomer, he eventually takes over the estate and seizes his revenge by making him a lowly labourer. Aas Cathy grows older she falls for Heathcliff’s raw charm but is also determined to achieve social status. This dilemma creates an unsolvable problem for the ambitious young woman and despite her marriage to another man, their bonds are never truly broken...

Their forbidden and ultimately tragic love underpins a tempestuous romance which is played out against the backdrop of wild, northern England countryside. With edgy undercurrents of sex, passion and hatred, this is an adventurous, bold and powerful version of a timeless epic.
