up on the season's best quality grapes at the best price with the
promise of bountiful supplies of both white and red varieties of the
fruit favourite. Australian grape growing regions are currently at the
height of production, providing consumers with the best of the bunch
when it comes to choice. As the summer swelters on, an abundance of
premium, juicy grapes are now available on shelves right across the
country.
Michael Moore owner and head chef of esteemed Summit Restaurant, said
grapes were the ideal complement to summer activities and meals, and are
the perfect accompaniment for a range of different cheeses. "A
connoisseur will know the perfect cheese platter isn't complete without
grapes. Not only do they draw out the flavours and taste of the cheese,
a grape or two between different cheeses will act as a palate cleanser
to reinvigorate the taste buds," said Michael.
Nutritious white and red grapes in all their tasty varieties are not
only good on the lips but good on the hips too, with a new low GI
certification from Glycemic Index Limited confirming what we've known
all along - these bursts of fruity fun are satisfyingly healthy.
A wide variety of grapes are available now including white Thompson and
Crimson seedless, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. So
grab some grapes today to boost your health and vitality!
Tip: When stored correctly in an airtight plastic container in the
fridge grapes will stay fresh for up to five days.
Ingredients
4 cups red grapes
1 cup no added sugar grape or cranberry juice
4 cups green grapes
3/4 cup no added sugar apple juice
Method
1.Place the red grapes in a food processor or blender along with the
grape or cranberry juice and blend until slushy. Remove and pour half
the mixture in a large metal tray.
2.Press the other half of the mixture through a sieve and discard the
skins. Add strained juice to the tray and stir to combine. Cover and
place in the freezer.
3.Rinse the processor or blender then repeat the process of blending and
sieving the green grapes and apple juice. Pour into a metal tray, cover
and place in the freezer.
4.After the trays have been in the freezer for about 2 hours and the
mixtures are nearly fully frozen, run a fork through each tray to
separate the ice crystals, making the mixture light and 'fluffy'.
5.Serve the red and green slushies in separate glasses or cups
immediately or return to freezer and serve when ready.
