To say Ember Swift's new project entitled 'Lentic' is a case where East meets West may be a cliche, but there is nothing stale about this bold and beautiful project. In fact. Lentic is a refreshing step in a new direction -electronic music meets folk - and is truly a sonic representation of two countries: China and Canada.

Fresh off the plane from a sold-out season at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Axis of Awesome return to Sydney for an hour of rock comedy, musical japery and melodius jokings for one night only on Saturday 14 November at the Metro.
LISTEN - as they sing songs! HEAR - them talk through electrical microphone-machines! APPLAUD - as they play musical instruments with their human hands!
Australia's most tolerated musical comedy trio have been busy boys over the last year, not least of all in Scotland recently where they performed 45 times in 4 weeks to great reviews.

Lloyd Live in Concert
Venue
Space Nightclub: Level 2 127 Liverpool Street.Sydney NSW
Date
October 22nd
Urban crooner Lloyd topped BET's play list singing a steamy duet with Ashanti, but he got his first spins on the anything-but-steamy Radio Disney.
Born January 3, 1986, in New Orleans but raised in Atlanta, Lloyd joined N-Toon-the teen pop group put together by Klymaxx's Joyce Irby-in 1996 and appeared on their 2000 album Toon Time, released by Dreamworks. Much later-and trading influences Mickey and Donald for Marvin Gaye and R. Kelly-Lloyd's vocal talents were recognized by L.A. Reid.

This album is a sprawling epic of a thing, running at almost 60 minutes in length. What do you expect after 5 years of writing and recording tunes?
There is something for everyone on this thing. The juicy looseness of 'The Good Times (Keep Following Me Around)', the legal-EZ-listening music of 'A.V.O.' and the heartbreaking reality of 'Landslides'. Quite frankly, it is all here. All you have to do is put the CD on and listen.
David has already done all the hard work for you.

The Dreamers E.P
Date
August 31st
Young Heretics is the brainchild of Melbourne based duo, Matthew Wright and Kitty Hart - eccentric twins, both with a love of warped pop music and sonic invention. The dual vocal attack incorporates theatrical soundscapes, driving beats and a massive selection of other instruments to create a dynamic and inventive sound that is sure to send shivers down your spine.
Having written together for over 15 years, the chemistry of the duo is evident throughout every haunting inch of their sound. They bring to mind bands that have been together for many years, despite the formation of the band in January 2009. And with only a handful of dates under their belt, they have already captured the imagination of their peers.
'The Dreamers E.P' is the band's debut release, and will be released digitally via iTunes on August 31st. A limited run of CDs will be sold at live shows in the coming months.

The White Album Concert

Ticketmaster 1300 136 166 or www.ticketmaster.com.au
Just over 40 years ago the release of the Beatles 9th and most influential album was hailed as a masterpiece- a revolution in music. Now four of Australia's finest rock vocalists- Chris Cheney, Phil Jamieson, Tim Rogers and Josh Pyke, will take to the stage this August for a series of special Concerts.
Coming after India, but before the split, The White Album was the sound of John, Paul, George and Ringo throwing everything they'd learned into their musical blender. This major work bursts with variety, creativity, experimentation, and the genius of The Beatles during one of their most intense, fertile, periods. It is a timeless album, yet very much of its time. Its 30 songs veer from the populist stomp of Back in the USSR and the mind-bending Happiness is a Warm Gun to the melodious sorrow of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the ska pop fun of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, and the hard rock prototype Helter Skelter.
Bringing this classic to life at The Beatles' White Album 40th Anniversary Concert requires an all-star line--up of Australia's best musicians, with Cheney, Jamieson, Rogers and Pyke backed by 17 players including guitars, strings, horns and two drummers, musically directed by Stewart D'Arietta.
The White Album songs will be performed in track order, starting with Back in the USSR and closing with Good Night, with state of the art sound.

Melbourne audiences will have an opportunity to re-discover Michael Nyman's cinematic music masterpieces when he performs one Melbourne concert only with his 11-piece band on Tuesday 28 July, returning to the Arts Centre stage for the first time in seven years.
As one of Britain's most innovative and acclaimed composers, Michael Nyman's work encompasses operas and string quartets, film soundtracks and concertos. His music systematically straddles generic boundaries, mobilising classical sounds within crisp, well-paced contemporary rhythms, splicing the tonalities of British baroque with those of present-day rock and pop.
Although he's far too modest to allow the description 'Renaissance Man', his restless creativity and multi-faceted art has made him one of the most fascinating and influential cultural identities of our times.
His cinematographic collaborations a mind-boggling 75 scores in total have propelled him to global fame. In 1993 the music he composed for Jane Campion's The Piano sold over three million copies.
Other notable collaborations on film include Peter Greenaway, (including The Draughtsman's Contract and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover), Neil Jordan (The End of the Affair), Michael Winterbottom (including Wonderland), Laurence Dunmore (The Libertine), Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) and most recently James Marsh's Academy Award winning documentary, Man On Wire about the spectacular tight-rope crossing between the World Trade Centre's Twin Towers in 1974.
Originally assembled in 1976, the Michael Nyman Band has been the laboratory in which Nyman has built a compositional style around strong melodies and precise ensemble playing.
This concert will be an unmissable event for music and film lovers alike. The Michael Nyman Band will also be performing at The Sydney Opera House on Sunday 26 July.

Female-fronted original pop music showcase, 'PopTarts', will re-launch as a monthly event at Annandale's Empire Hotel on Monday April 27 with an extra special line-up as well as lots of giveaways.
The free Grand (re) Launch Party of PopTarts at The Empire, will feature a line-up of seven artists to celebrate PopTarts' more than seven years as a series of events and artist community: Amanda Easton, Jacqueline Amidy, Almost a Trio, Claire Wyndham, Katrina Underwood, Lila Swain and Super Massive.
PopTarts began as a showcase event at The Empire Hotel in August 2001 and continued there for almost six years until the pub underwent major renovations. PopTarts now runs on the first Tuesday of every month at Balmain's Unity Hall Hotel and will continue there while also running on the last Monday of every month at The Empire. More PopTarts venues will also be announced soon.
PopTarts' founder, local artist Amanda Easton, has also completed hosting and producing PopTarts TV, a program which features live performances and interviews from artists from the showcases. It has already run on TVS in Sydney and C31 in Melbourne but you can still catch the 13-part TV series in Queensland on QCTV or online at www.myspace.com/poptartslive. In a bid to make the TV Show interactive, songs featured on the TV series can be downloaded from PopTarts' online music store at www.thelocalscene.com.au. This site provides free music mp3s for fans, while artists get paid by advertisers each time one of their songs is downloaded.
The following PopTarts showcase event starts at 7:30pm on May 5 at The Unity Hall Hotel at 292 Darling Street in Balmain (opposite Woollies).

The Lazys tour supported by Jack Daniels
Date
Wednesday April 29-Saturday June 6
With 2009 well on its way things are shaping up for what will be a massive year for the five-piece, with their track "All Fired Up" being licensed for the new Channel 7 series "Thank God You're Here" which features on the band's self-titled EP due for release on May 1.
Recorded in the legendary Albert studios, home of AC/DC, it's a showcase of the band's sheer ability. Instantly memorable songs, catchy as hell with huge choruses, thrashing guitar solos, a driving rhythm section and topped with Leon's howling vocals. There's nothing out there like it. Unforgettable, hard and edgy you'll be hearing it in your head long after you've turned it off.
Tour dates are: Wednesday April 29: Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle, Sydney, NSW Friday May 8: Spectrum, Sydney, NSW Saturday May 16: The Globe, Brisbane, QLD Thursday May 21: Spurs Tavern, Devonport, TAS Friday May 22: Hotel New York, Launceston, TAS Saturday May 23: Brisbane Hotel, Hobart, TAS Saturday May 30: Laurieton Hotel, Port Macquarie, NSW Thursday June 4: The Esplanade Hotel,St Kilda, VIC Friday June 5: Home Tavern, Wagga Wagga, NSW Saturday June 6: Woodport Inn, Erina, NSW

Two of Australia's best-loved music acts - Missy Higgins and The Cat Empire - will celebrate landmark performances at an Easter Sunday concert at Rochford Winery in the Yarra Valley, as part of Tourism Victoria's "Amazing As Always" autumn program, designed to encourage the return of tourism to the Yarra Valley & Dandenongs, as local residents and businesses are rebuilding their lives after the Victorian bushfires.
The concert marks a triumphant return to Australia for Missy Higgins, who has spent over one year in North America touring solidly. Her Top 10 Australian hit "Where I Stood" is still enjoying exceptional airplay in the US, 12 months after its release. The song has been a Top 10 airplay hit over there, with sales exceeding 100,000 albums and 500,000 sales on iTunes to date.
This is Missy's first Australian concert and is impeccably timed to promote the multi-ARIA Award winner's new online EP, "More Than This" which releases Tuesday, March 31 exclusively through iTunes.
The Cat Empire are also destined for foreign shores again this year, with North America and European touring planned, the band on target to clock up their milestone 700th show in July. The Empires new live album LIVE ON EARTH hit number two on the Australian artist album charts in March, joining their previous list of multi-platinum albums. Arguably one of Australia's hardest working bands, fans of The Cat Empire should take note that this may be their last Victorian show until later this year, so don't miss out!
The stellar line-up is nicely rounded off with the remarkable Tim Freedman, whose solo performances in Australia are renowned for a mixture of caustic wit and delicate piano, plus ARIA Award-winners The Audreys.
Opening the show will be Melbourne's own Skipping Girl Vinegar, the indie world's masters of acoustic melody.

One of the world's premier live concert experiences Beyond the Darkside returns to Sydney and Melbourne for three special performances at The Sydney Opera House on Friday May 8 and at The Palms at Crown on Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23 staging a three-hour live spectacle that recreates all the excitement and captures the essence that is Pink Floyd.
Performing the hits of the early years culminating in the entire 'Dark Side Of The Moon' album, the 9 piece band is the largest of it's kind and has garnered rave reviews and accolades the world over, building on a reputation for going far beyond the standards of any similar act with its authentic sound and near perfect rendering of the original spectacle.
Named after legendary Georgia blues men Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, Pink Floyd were undoubtedly the greatest mainstream rock phenomenon in the world, Dark Side of the Moon being a pivotal album in the history of music, selling a staggering 40 million copies world-wide making it the third best selling album of all time worldwide.
Even now, almost 40 years after this group of middle-class University students orchestrated the British psychedelic pop scene of the sixties, Pink Floyd continues to captivate its audience with its atmospheric, introspective anthems exploring the evocative and timeless themes of loneliness, alienation, madness and death.
Beyond The Dark Side recreates the psychedelic visual display and acoustic dimensions of an original Pink Floyd concert experience, capturing the imagination and artistry that Pink Floyd fans have become accustomed.
This is the largest production of any Pink Floyd show in the world, and the largest show ever to be seen here in Australia since the real thing, according to its UK creator, musician (lead and acoustic guitars and lead vocals) Kevin Hunt.

Black Tide will tour Australia with Florida's Trivium
Book
www.ticketek.com.au, 132 849 or www.moshtix.com.au
Black Tide may be the most explosive thing to happen to music since hard rock and heavy metal transformed the face of popular culture in the mid 80's. They not only embrace the charisma, character and unwavering attitude of those who shredded before them, but they do so in a manner that would make the virtuosos that inspired them proud.
The results are a renegade metallic assault that America hasn't encountered since Metallica killed 'em all in '83. Black Tide is not only bringing music back from the dead on their debut album Light From Above, but they are returning the power to metal.
At the ripe ages of 15-20, Gabriel, Alex, Zakk and Steven are ushering in one hell of a coming of age for heavy metal. The meltdown is long overdue:

My Filthy Riot... Presents... ASLEEP IN THE PARK
Venue
Annandale Hotel
Date
March 21-22
Sleeping never sounded so good..
Get your blood pumping and your feet jumping as Melbourne's own hyperactive indie rockers, Asleep in the Park, journey over the border and up to Sydney for the celebrated My Filthy Riot Festival. Packing into the Annandale Hotel will be 51 bands strutting their stuff on 3 stages in a weekend of musical mischief and mayhem not to be missed.
With the festival running from March 21-22, Asleep in the Park are set to rock, roll and raise the roof on Sat March 21. Proudly boasting a line-up packed with local and interstate talent, My Filthy Riot, in only its second year, is quickly becoming renowned for showcasing the stars of tomorrow, today!
With better dress sense than Johnny Cash but fewer suspended sentences, Asleep in the Park are a mischievous musical collective whose trademark rock riffs and high-energy harmonies guarantee audiences night after night of scorching live performances and fun-filled shows. Deliciously impish in attitude and appearance, Asleep in the Park have an infectious and esoteric sound that has led to them being aptly described as the bastard lovechild of The Sex Pistols and The B52s.
Following extensive tours of Europe, last year saw Asleep in the Park travel to the US to record with famed LA-based producer Rick Parker (Dandy Warhols, B.R.M.C, the Von Bondies). The irreverent foursome, now hard at work back in Australia, will be releasing both an EP and album, from these recordings, later this year.
So don't miss this opportunity to see Asleep in the Park in action. Head down to the Annandale on March 21 for a feet-tapping, arm-waving, smile-inducing rock-a-thon as they pull out all stops, crank up the volume and bounce across the stage as only Asleep in the Park can.

Released April 3
The 20th Anniversary Byron Bay Bluesfest CD celebrates all that makes the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival one of Australia's most acclaimed and respected festivals. A stellar lineup including Jack Johnson, Bernard Fanning, John Butler, Ben Harper & Relentless7, Xavier Rudd, Bonnie Raitt, Kasey Chambers and many more.
"This is just a serious slab, served up hot 'n spicy, of Bluesfest", said Peter Noble, Festival Director. "I love every single song on this release. There is so much embodied within the soul and spirit of our first twenty years here's to the next 20".

Well here it is! Directed by fellow New Yorker Barney Clay the clip tells the story of the world being your stage. Shot during the bleak of night in San Francisco, the visuals take you on a journey following Karen O through the city landscape of bright lights, dark alleys and glittering streets.

New Album - Relapse - Available May 22
Eminem, the biggest selling music artist of the decade, officially announced the street date of his eagerly awaited new album; his first original studio album in over four years. Relapse (Interscope/ Aftermath/Shady) will be released on May 22, 2009. The first single from the album and its accompanying video will see a simultaneous release on April 7.
Anticipation for Relapse has been building since late 2008, when Eminem first announced the album title and debuted the freestyle, "I'm Having A Relapse," during an interview on his Shade 45 satellite radio station. Last month, the release of "Crack A Bottle" from Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent brought that anticipation to a head. The track soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Eminem's second #1 after 2002's "Lose Yourself") and set a Nielsen SoundScan record for opening week download sales (418,000). The recording ranked third in the history of all weekly download sales. "Crack A Bottle" will be included as an album track on Relapse.

The Getaway Plan
Book
Tickets on sale 9am, Friday 6 March
After five years of touring and one year after the release of their breakthrough album 'Other Voices, Other Rooms', Melbourne quartet The Getaway Plan have decided to call it quits.
The announcement comes after a successful 2008 for the band, which concluded with a national spot on the Big Day Out circuit. In addition, 2008 saw the band gain two hit singles ('Where The City Meets The Sea' and 'Shadows'), three nationally sold-out headline tours and a plethora of praise from media and fans alike.
As part of the band's official statement to fans and media, they said, "There comes a point in everyone's lives where they must sit back and assess if everything is working the way it should be. We have come to a decision that The Getaway Plan will no longer continue to make music together. This is in no way the end of our careers as musicians. Music is and always will be the biggest part of our lives." The full statement can be read at the band's MySpace (myspace.com/thegetawayplan) or the Boomtown Records website (boomtownrecords.com.au).
Supported by Channel [V], The Getaway Plan will play one last run of East Coast dates - playing to limited capacity audiences in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Joining them on the road will be close friends, The Amity Affliction and Elora Danan.
Matthew Wright, Clint Splattering, Dave Anderson and Aaron Barnett have vowed to continue to create music in various forms and each has new projects in the works. Stay tuned for more details on their respective musical ventures.

The Beatstakes: Limbo Messiah

The BEATSTEAKS have already succeeded in creating an unmistakable full-speed-ahead, right-in-your-face sound on their four previous albums. "Smack Smash" (2004) delivered the climax so far and not only was awarded Gold status, but also included three irresistible single hits.
".Limbo Messiah" is completely different and yet still typically BEATSTEAKS. About half of the songs are driven by the catapult energy that you find with American hardcore combos from the Eighties. "Bands like Black Flag, Minor Threat and so on can't play like Pink Floyd, but they had this unbelievable power. On the other hand the Bad Brain did have this diversified musicality," Torsten enthuses. But that's a long way from being all. Besides the mentioned fast-as-lightning outpourings of energy (for example "As I Please", "Bad Brain", "Sharp, Cool & Collected", among others), ".Limbo Messiah" offers a lot of other sounds. "She Was Great" has a funky groove and falsetto vocals; "Soljanka" is a compact rocker crowned with thunderous Keith Moon drums; "E-G-O" turns out to be an adventure that provides new kicks every time you hear it. And in the frantic "Demons Galore" resounds a heartbreaking melancholic lead melody/solo guitar as well as backing vocals that are reminiscent of Queen. "I find Freddie Mercury to be very inspiring. Maybe not the look, but in respect to vocals, lyrics and attitude. He is one of the greatest," says Arnim in praise of the far-too-soon departed entertainment icon.

The Black Eyed Peas' fifth studio album is set to arrive June 5, 2009. "Boom Boom Pow," the first new single from the album, will be serviced to media.
"We wanted to make a record that would make people dance," reveals will.i.am. Venue
Clipsal 500 TrackSounds On-Circuit Concert
Date
Friday, March 20
Book
Tickets are available from Ticketek on phone 132-849 or online at ticketek.com.au
The Jim Beam TrackSounds On-Circuit Concert Series for the 2009 Clipsal 500 Adelaide continues in year eleven of the event with local five-piece, Delamare, having been confirmed to play, supporting The Presets, Pete Murray, Faker and Operator Please on Friday, March 20.
Clipsal 500 Adelaide Chief Executive Jason Allen said today that the event is committed to supporting local talent and he was delighted with the bands selected.
"Delamare is a great group and given that the Clipsal 500 Adelaide is not only SA's largest annual sporting event, but also one of our biggest music festivals, it's great to present emerging local talent to such a large audience."
The last 12-months have been non-stop for Delamare who have been touring relentlessly playing with the likes of The Getaway Plan, Closure in Moscow, Stealing O'Neal, Brittle, Acid Eyeliner, Natalie Gauci, The Hot Lies and In Fiction whilst promoting their debut EP 'Imaginary Things'. In December 2008, Delamare performed at the Annual Schoolies Festival in Victor Harbour South Australia.
Although Delamare have only been on the scene for a short amount of time, they have already made their impression felt. Their first EP was produced by Luke Webb, whose credits include The Angels, Rose Tattoo, Faker and Kisschasy and shows just how commercially sound the band already is with plenty of pop hooks and catchy lyrics.
Delamare deliver their audience a mix of punchy riffs, fresh harmonies and energetic key and a high energy stage show, making a name for themselves within the Adelaide, and the wider Australian music scene.
Moving in to 2009, the band will hit the recording studio to write and record tracks for what will be the band's debut full length album due for release late 2009 or early 2010.

Limp Bizkit is BACK
The original line-up of Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal are back from an eight year hiatus to bring their world back to ours. Fred Durst and Wes Borland said in a joint statement:
"We decided we were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than we were with each other. Regardless of where our separate paths have taken us, we recognize there is a powerful and unique energy with this particular group of people we have not found anywhere else. This is why Limp Bizkit is back."
The guys will kick off a world tour in the Spring on the overseas festival circuit with headline shows sprinkled in throughout Eastern Europe and Europe, selected dates include, in late May, Russia, Ukraine, and the Baltic countries where Limp Bizkit has never played before despite huge demand, along with major festivals like Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park in Germany, more dates to be announced shortly. A new album, which would be the original group's first full-length effort since 2000, is also planned.

Kirsty Lee Akers has debuted at #4 on the ARIA Australian Artists Country Albums chart (week ending 17 January 2009) with her much anticipated second album, 'Better Days'. Only platinum selling CDs from Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson and Keith Urban along with the popular CMAA Winners album sold more copies.
'Better Days' also debuted at #7 on the Australian Independent Albums Chart (which features all musical genres) and #7 on the ARIA Country Albums chart. The album was nominated by Take 40 Australia as one of last week's most anticipated releases alongside new albums from the likes All American Rejects, Franz Ferdinand, Bruce Springsteen, Lily Allen and Jamie Foxx.
Kirsty launched the album with a sold out show at the recent Tamworth Country Music Festival with dozens of eager fans having to be turned away at the door after failing to snap up tickets earlier in the week.
The album's first single 'Knocked Up' is creating a buzz at radio and the hilarious, one take video currently sits at #8 on the Country Music Channel's video request chart.

From the energetic and playful to the contemplative and intimate, this collection of work is a visually spectacular series of sensory and physical experiences. Comprising a mix of full length and shorter works, the Massive program includes 14 contemporary performances presented over 12 days at three inner-Melbourne venues - Arts House, Malthouse Theatre and Dancehouse.
Dance Massive represents a fresh approach towards new and sustainable ways of imagining and realising a concentration of dance programming nationally to benefit the sector and the artists involved while at the same time engaging audiences, in what is arguably the creative epicentre of contemporary dance in Australia. Melbourne audiences will get a chance to fill their dance card with productions by some of the country's seminal dance figures in Russell Dumas and Helen Herbertson along with the new force of Rogue who burst onto the scene at last year's Next Wave Festival. And if that's not enough, the program also includes established companies such as Chunky Move, Lucy Guerin Inc and Splintergroup.
Dance Massive is presented by Arts House, Malthouse Theatre, Dancehouse in conjunction with Ausdance Victoria and with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts Victoria.

What better way to celebrate this than to take the experience to iconic Australian locations with leading artists?" said David McLean, Microsoft's Regional Director for the Entertainment & Devices Division. "We set the bar high with the Pussycat Dolls performance at the Sydney Opera House last year, and we're keeping it huge by delivering fans a Fall Out Boy performance that money just can't buy. Seeing them perform in this unique location with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background - it's going to be awesome and we can't wait."
Pete Wentz, bassist from Fall Out Boy commented, "We're pumped to come back to Australia for our national tour in February and what a great way to cap it off by taking over Sydney Harbour and playing in front of one of the world's most iconic bridges."
